Dr. Anand Somaya is a founding member of the Vascular Society of India and served as President from 1997-1999. He received his Medical Education at the Armed Forces Medical College in Pune. Dr. Somaya spent seven years as a doctor in the Armed Forces from 1971 to 1978 and served in Ladakh during the India-Pakistan War of 1971. He trained in cardiovascular surgery under renown doctors in the US, UK and India.
Dr. Indu Shahani has served as principal of HR College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai, since 2000. Previously, she was vice-principal of the college and has 31 years of teaching experience in higher education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Dr Shahani is a visiting faculty member at UC Berkeley and the School of Management NJIT, USA. She holds a PhD in commerce from the University of Mumbai on enhancing links between academic institutions.
In 2002, Luis Miranda founded IDFC Private Equity and headed it as President and CEO till 2010. He was Chairman of the company till 2011. Mr. Miranda co-chairs the Global Advisory Board (Asia Cabinet) at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and is Chairman of the Board of Advisors for the Centre for Civil Society. He received an MBA from Chicago Booth and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
In 1977, Prahlad Kakar founded Genesis Film Production, one of India’s oldest and foremost advertising production houses, that has been instrumental in changing the face of Indian advertising. Before entering the world of advertising, he worked as assistant to renown filmmaker Shyam Benegal. His work includes ad films for leading brands, including PepsiCo, P&G, Nestle and MasterCard. He holds an economics degree from Fergusson College, Pune.
Ramesh Shankar S. is Executive Vice President and Head of HR for South Asia at Siemens. Prior to his role at Siemens, he was Senior Vice President for HR at ABB Limited and Vice President at Britannia Industries Limited. He also spent ten years at Eicher Group as the Head of HR. He received his MBA from XLRI in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.
Varun Sahni is founding partner at Impact Investment Partners (IIP). Prior to co-founding IIP, he was India Director at Acumen Fund and co-managed Acumen’s global portfolio. He also worked for Hindustan Unilever building one of India’s largest rural distribution network "Project Shakti". Mr. Sahni sits on the Health Care Leadership Council of USAID’s Market-based Partnerships for Health and is a TED India Fellow. He was a Chevening Gurukul Scholar at the London School of Economics and holds an MA from Columbia University.
